The Westbury Mayfair
is an excellent hotel. Great location. Superior room most comfortable. Superb

The
Pavillon Porte de Versailles is an excellent small hotel located in a
quiet street about 100 m. from the Porte de Versailles Metro station. It
is conveniently situated for access (by Metro or bus) to all parts of the
city centre. Our room (no 201), although small, was spotlessly clean, well
decorated and maintained. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful - and
the breakfast was excellent.
We felt that the room rate you achieved for us (FF 550.00 per night) was
excellent value for money.

My partner and I stayed at the
Commodore for several
days in March 2003 and enjoyed it very much. The room (#310) was a decent size
and had a nice king-size sleigh bed with a down comforter. The bathroom was
good-sized and had a full bath with shower. A couple nice surprises were the
small deck outside the room and a refrigerator in the room. The only quibble
we had about the room was the lack of washcloths ("flannels", I believe the
English call them.) Our room was also smoke-free (as we had requested) though
it smelled a bit of new paint.We had a decent continental breakfast most days,
though one day the cheese platter was obviously left over from the previous
day. Service in the hotel and at the restaurant ranged from courteous to very
friendly and there were people from many different countries staying there for
both business and holiday.The hotel is only a block from the Lanacaster Gate
into Hyde park, and a 10-15 minute walk to Queensway, which has tons of
restaurants and shops, as well as Whiteley's shooping court. The only
difficulty was the temporary closure of the Central Line of the tube (due to a
derailment in February 2003). The Central Line is the only line feeding the
nearest Tube stop (Lancaster Gate) so we had to walk or bus to the Bayswater
station or the Paddington station. All in all the buses were easier to use
from this location. In any case, a very nice hotel and a good location. I
definitely recommend it.

- We spent 3 night at the
Commodore and had a
lovely time. It is a five minute walk to Paddington station and the service
was lovely. We stayed in a suite and it was fairytale. The service staff was
above par and so helpful. I will be going back in March and staying again!

two different occasions: the first night, we had a standard room, which was a
bit nicer than the cheaper hotels I've stayed at in this area (near
Paddington). The question is whether it was nicer enough to be worth the extra
money: it would depend on your personal taste. The room was fine but kind of
spartan, the view of an interior courtyard was just allright, and the bathroom
was very cramped (though the shower was excellent). The breakfast room and
lobby were very pretty, and the breakfast was good: a variety of cereals,
fruits, yogurt and breads (English breakfast with eggs, bacon and beans is
extra; some deals online include it). The second night we spent a bit more on
an "executive" class room, and the difference was remarkable. The room was
elegantly appointed, with a chandelier, a four-poster bed, a widescreen TV, a
cute little desk, and a much larger bathroom. We also had a beautiful view of
the former-church spire across the street. The furniture wasn't really antique
or anything, but the overall effect was very nice. If I can ever afford it, I
might stay at the Savoy, but for now, I think the Commodore does pretty well.
I look forward to staying there again.

efficient, helpful!! Our stay was but 3 nights--we hated to leave but vowed to

perfect for our needs and this area was simply a quiet, safe, peaceful place

by the Commodore Hotel. I have stayed in cheap London hotels before, and the
Commodore was very nice in every respect. The rooms were the biggest I've had
in London (though I always stay in cheap places) and the beds were very
comfortable. Even the bathroom was big, for an English hotel bathroom. It was
all marble and very nice. I was also thrilled to see that my double room also
had a sofa! I've never gotten more than a utilitarian desk with my bed... but
this room had a nice desk, a decent bed with good linen, and a sofa. For 69# a
night, I was extremely satisfied. The tube station is nearby, and the bus
station is even closer.

- We stayed at the
Commodore Hotel, 50
Lancaster Gate, London, England for four nights. With all the sights to see,
we did not hang around the hotel during the day, we only slept there and
enjoyed the breakfast that came with the cost of the room. We paid $124 a
night and tax and service fees were not included, so there was an additional
$100 added on. Lodging is expensive in London. The room was comfortable. The
only problem we had was on the last day when we were left with one towel
between the two of us, the housekeeper did not finish making the bed and did
not resupply the tea service and we were charged for the mini bar when we did
not use it. These little things did not bother us and were dealt with easily.
The front desk people were very friendly and helpful. We were able to store
our bags for no extra cost at the hotel since we arrived early in the morning
and our room would not be available until 2:00 p.m. The breakfast was
wonderful, an assortment of cereal, buns, cheese, yogurt, juice and fruit, and
the location of the hotel is great especially if you like to walk or run in
the morning - the entrance to Hyde park is just across the street. Also, the
Tube (we found to be the most efficient way to get around and the seven day
pass is the cheapest fare even if you are only staying four days) is just a
few blocks walk. There are also bus stops very close by. I would stay there
again.

Commodore (Feb '04),
and was very happy with my room and the hotel in general. It is conveniently
located but tucked back in a quiet, leafy circle with little traffic. The
room, halls, elevators, and public areas are mostly very small, which is to be
expected in this price range in London. My room (504) was immaculate, the
marble tiled bathroom perfect, and there was a lovely private patio with a
table and two chairs overlooking the mews in back. The restaurant in the
basement looks recently refurbished. There are many low and moderate-priced
hotels in this part of London. I'd go back in an instant, especially to this
room

Anyhow, we had a great stay at
the Mayflower
hotel. Due to refurbishment, we were relocated to a sister hotel for the
first night, where we got a rather small room on the top floor. The reception
of Mayflower asked us about our room and we told them it was pretty small and
very hot. There second night our room at the Mayflower Hotel was finished and
it was great! It had all the luxury we could wish for. The bathroom was one of
the most beautiful ones I've ever come across. The room itself had a great
atmosphere, making our stay in London a very relaxing experience. This is the
hotel I'm booking whenever I have to spend a night in London: nice people,
beautiful rooms, great service and very affordable.

I have seen through other sites in internet that the
Waverley House
Hotel has a higher room rate. I am very glad to book it with that lower
rate of yours, but may I ask: I suppose I am having the same type of
accommodation as every other guest. In other words, I am not getting a smaller
or older room, or whatever?
