London Heathrow Airport

London Heathrow Airport, Hotels near London Heathrow Airport

The airport is located 20 miles (32km) to the west of central London and there are excellent transport links to the city and beyond.
London Heathrow (LHR) is one of the world’s busiest and most sophisticated airports, handling more international passengers than any other. 90 airlines serve 183 destinations from its four terminals. A fifth terminal is currently under construction. Each terminal has competitive currency exchange facilities, information counters and accommodation desks. There are also left luggage facilities.
The go-ahead to construct Terminal 5 was essential if Heathrow is to cope with the projected increase in traffic during this decade. With over 200 international destinations on the departure screens and a healthy slice of domestic flights airlines are still lobbying for access to the self-styled 'Gateway to the World'.
Major airports tend to suffer from impersonality disorder and Heathrow is no exception. But as Britain's senior player both in passenger and cargo handling it is reasonably efficient and unarguably successful.
